Two Epitafios

Mikis Theodorkis, composed it in 1958, who is a Greek composer. He has used folk melodies along with the byzantine church influences in these epitafios.

Bwv 1006a

The prelude of the fourth lute suite was used for BWV 29, Cantata “Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir” (we thank thee, God, we thank thee).  Wilhelm Tappert, an organist, had stated that the BWV 1006a was arranged and transcribed for lute solo. Nevertheless, present research contradicts this and it explains that the piece was written for an unspecified instrument. This movement also highlights the guitar’s (or lute, during Bach’s time) polyphonic abilities quite well. I play the 3rd and the 6th movement along with the prelude.
